Tapered Joint Torque / Failure Testing

The graph shown here is from a Tapered Joint Torque/Failure Test. The joint configuration for this type of test is a tapered body shoulder on a screw (most likely a ball stud) and a tapered hole fit on the mating section. The outputs for this test are input torque and taper draw-in. The red trace is the torque vs angle graph and the green trace is from a Linear Displacement Transducer that is measuring the draw-in of the ball stud. This test will allow a customer to select a torque + angle strategy to provide them with a targeted amount of taper draw-in.
